To start over again
I was testing the jump in the engine early today when I realized that the timing I planned for the animation, wasn't working for a game. My animation needed some extra time before the character could really jump in the air, but after some research I learned that in games a Jump anticipation ruins the game feeling and I had to start the animation over again in a whole new way. But like with the other one I have problems with the landing, hopefully i'll figure out tomorrow how to fix that.

Nice notice regarding the jump delays which can ruin the game feeling. There are just a very few games where this delay is bearable but still annoys in important or stressful situations (encounter, chase, escape scenes)
AntwortenLöschenyou should watch some games where the player is able to jump on demand. I would suggest Darksiders, WoW, Call of Duty (in multiplayer because there is no 3rd person cam), Alice Madness Returns.. I would love to mention Batman AA as well but this is no real jump. it is an evasion move. A real jump gets your character on higher level geometry.
Maybe you will find a solution for the landing due to the investigation of references ;)
Best,
Rico
Thank you for the imput, Rico :)
LöschenYeah, you're right. A jump anticipation in most of the cases will annoye the player.
Gonna watch some videos now ;D
